Two Dianas
Today we have two very different pieces by different Dianas but both involving collage. The first by Diana Woods-Humphery is both experimental and abstract. The balanced composition she has achieved in this piece makes for a pleasing image. I wonder if we have other members who are bold enough to venture into the abstract.

View from Sellack
Sue Murphy writes, "After the latest Paint-in Live with Norfolk Painting School here is my attempt. We were invited to paint a view of our own, but in the style of Cezanne, who painted views of Mont St Victoire in France. This is the View from Sellack, style of Cezanne in oils, 12 x 16 in. On this occasion I used Fabriano Oil Paper but having previously found it too slippy, this time I prepared it with a coat of pink gesso. It made a very short ground to work on, but I’ll be interested to see what it’s like when I take it off the board that I had attached it to."

Challenging Greens and Jacobean Crewel
Sue Embrey wrote "... thought I’d share this as it was a real challenge to get the greens right. I had to keep thinking warm or cool! It’s a place called Chiltern in Victoria and it reminds me a little of the beech woods near High Wycombe. Fun to do!! Pastel on mount card."
Needlework is another of Sue's talents

Flowers and Music for Easter
As it's Easter Sunday flowers and music seem appropriate for the choice of paintings to show. The first is by Sue Murphy and the second by Val McDonald.
Sue Murphy writes, "Subsequent to the discussion at the AGM as to whether it was possible to do a demonstration in traditional oils in a morning you might like to look at the 1 hour free demonstrations weekly by Martin Kinnear, at Norfolk Painting School. You can access the video st their website as a video and follow it at your own pace, which is easier to my mind than following it live on Facebook. This is my version, after Ann Rice, oil on mdf 12 x 16in, 30 x 40cm"
And here is Val's musical contribution

Pastels
Three pastel paintings for you today: the first by Sue Embrey and then two by Richard Hyde.
Sue says, "Here's a quick warm up pastel using on of Karen Margulis' YouTube demos. Very useful to get you going after a break doing lots of embroidery! I used a mountcard offcut in a warm beige with an orange underpainting, Also used fixative to keep the shadows dark."

Canal boat
Ian Fountaine has managed to get some rich colour into this painting. He thinks it's a bit too 'chocolate box' and I suppose that is a danger when using such a bright palette.

Acrylic Paintings by Sarah Amery
Here are two acrylic paintings by Sarah Amery. She wrote, “The one on the back of a violin (my father makes violins and this back wasn’t going to be used to complete a violin) I thought I would have fun with! I painted Dartington Hall in Devon for my father as this is a special place for him.
The one of the sea is from a photo of Lanzarote from last year, I wanted to recreate the feeling I had when I stood on the beach. Happy memories!”
