2019 Programme


Our usual meeting place is Holy Trinity Catholic Church Hall, New Street, Ledbury, HR8 2EE. All our meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month, except June, July. August, when we have our summer break.

Meetings start at 9.45am until 12:00 noon. The morning is broken for a short coffee break at 11am. The cost for each demonstration is now £2.50 for members £5 for non members. To join LAS there is an annual subscription of £20.

Members have two exhibitions a year to sell and show work at the Weavers Gallery, Ledbury (see Exhibitions for details)

TUESDAY 8TH JANUARY.
PAUL ARNOTT: COMPUTER ART. LANDSCAPES.
Paul is the present chairman of the South Wales Art Society. He has been painting for many years and offers a wide selection of presentations using different mediums.
For our mornings demonstration Paul will demonstrate Digital Painting, by painting on his computer and projecting the image onto a larger screen. He will provide tips also for digital photography.
Computer art may not be our chosen medium but we hope this demonstration will help us understand the techniques behind it. http://www.paularnott.uk/

TUESDAY 5TH FEBRUARY.
RICHARD CRABTREE: LINE AND WASH.
Richard is an elected member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society and a professional associate member of The Society For All Artists.

CHERYL CLAYTON: PASTEL, MIXED.
Cheryl is a member of the Redditch Art Circle. She is a wildlife artist with a passion for all furred and feathered. Cheryl say’s she has a deep love of creating art work and passing on her knowledge to others through her teaching. https://en-gb.facebook.com/CherylClaytonArt/

TUESDAY 7TH MAY.
LEANNE ELLIS: ACRYLIC LANDSCAPE.
Leanne from a young age has been into music, art and crafts. She has been a professional singer since 2006 under the stage name Lena Carole.
Leanne is a product demonstrator for Winsor & Newton. She has had very good results using their products and is happy using watercolour, oils and acrylics. On her web site you can find video demonstrations, advice and materials to buy.

TUESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER.
CHRIS NORMAN: LOOKING AT PERSPECTIVE.
Chris is self-taught which has lead to a lot of experiments with techniques and materials, over the years he feels this has strengthened his work. His favourite landscapes are those with dramatic light effects whether natural or man-made. https://www.artgallery.co.uk/artist/chris_norman

TUESDAY 1ST OCTOBER.
JOE DOWDEN: WATERCOLOUR LANDSCAPE.
Joe is a professional watercolour artist specialising in landscapes and seascapes. He is a panel member for SSA and author of several books. Joe is also a TV presenter and featured on Artist Network TV Channel. Joe’s last demonstration for LAS had members asking for his return.

TUESDAY 5TH NOVEMBER.
ERIC WATSON: ANIMALS WILDLIFE IN PASTEL.
Eric is a self-taught artist from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. He became a full time artist in 1994. Eric is now a Full Member Of The Wildlife Artists International as a professional artist.
Eric demonstrated for LAS early last year and made a very good demonstration, sharing with us his techniques and tips. His demonstration can be found on the LAS Blogg.

TUESDAY 3RD DECEMBER
ROBIN HOLDER : ACRYLICS.
Robin is a local artist, he describes himself as a river Severn artist.
He travels extensively along the river Severn, walking or using his canoe, where he captures what he sees. Robin describes his work as intuitive somewhere on the scale between figurative and abstract.
